Goodbye Portland

As my time in Portland comes to an end, I can’t help but to think about all of the amazing experience that I have gained in the last few months. The Portland Experience truly helped me to realize my potential as a PR professional in the workplace. Of course there are pros and cons that come with being a millennial, but the lessons that I have learned here are invaluable.

I highly recommend the PDXSX program to anyone who has the slightest interest in getting firsthand internship experience. With this being my third public relationsportland internship, I can now say that having a diverse range of journalism knowledge  has helped me grow into a young professional. Living and working in Portland has been such a different yet priceless experience, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. From stellar co-workers to an awesome Fall cohort, I’ve received so much positive support and motivation which has kept me going strong.

Internships are a way to test out different career paths without making the actual jump into the commitment of a long term job. That is exactly why I am grateful for the diverse experiences that I have been through in my time at the SOJC.

Darlene, it’s been real! The time has flown by. I definitely agree that there are cons with being a millennial, but at the same time there are some serious pros.

I’m glad you’ve had a positive experience in Portland! I wonder if different cities affect the type of workplace culture at your different internships?
